  • Padel for dummies: the unwritten rulebook.

Book cover titled 'Padel for Dummies' featuring illustrations of a person playing padel with a racket and balls, against a bright yellow background.

(Also known as: “Things we all know, but still ‘accidentally’ forget…”)

Let me first start with this…

    Honestly, I don’t get it.

You’ve played padel 43 times… and still show up in leggings with no pockets? Shorts so tight they couldn’t hold a single grape, let alone a padel ball?

It’s a mystery for the ages. Like why we clap when a plane lands, or why socks disappear in the laundry.

Just… bring a pocket. Or a ball clip. Or something. Because holding a spare ball in your armpit isn’t a long-term strategy.

So get yourself some decent leggings or shorts that can actually hold a ball.

That would be my first advice when you start with Padel.

Rule #1 – Thou shalt not leave balls rolling freely

    Loose balls = chaos.

They’re like banana peels for ankles. 🚫🍌

Put them in your pocket or in the net — not rolling around like ankle grenades.

Save lives. Store your balls responsibly.

Rule #2 – Always say “sorry” for that disgusting winner

Did you hit a horrible, off-the-frame, low-speed drop shot that somehow killed the point?

    You monster.

Say sorry. Smile. Act humble. Inside? Be proud. 😇

    Rule #3 – Net position isn’t optional

If your teammate is serving, you should be at the net, ready to pounce—not casually sipping water or adjusting your ponytail.

This is war. (Well, sort of.)

And the one serving… keep the extra ball in your pocket.

    Rule #4 – No coaching mid-point

Unless you’re coaching yourself after missing yet another bandeja.

(“Come on, Sarah, get it together!”) That’s allowed.

Rule #5: Accept your partner’s advice.

Let it go in one ear and out the other — with a smile.

Your teammate means well. Truly. Even when they shout “MOVE!” like you’re dodging a truck, not a fuzzy yellow ball. Nod, smile, maybe even say, “Great tip!” Then carry on doing exactly what you were doing.

Because padel is about teamwork… and also pretending you’re listening. Stay polite, stay humble, and remember: if you’re going to ignore advice, at least do it with charm.

Rule #6 – Applaud the enemy

If your opponent hits a ridiculous shot—clap. Or at least raise your eyebrows in respectful pain.

It’s classy, and slightly intimidating. ✨

    Rule #7 – No judging warm-ups

Yes, she just hit 10 clean volleys in a row.

    No, that doesn’t mean she’s a pro.

Wait for the match. Then judge.

Rule #8 – Celebrate with style, not screams

    Fist bump? Yes.

Samba dance across the net? Save that for after the match. 💃

    Rule #9 – Don’t block the door

Padel courts have weird little doors. Don’t stand in them. Don’t lean on them.

They’re not your throne. Other people want to play too.

    Rule #10 – Be kind, unless it’s a tiebreak

Then you may politely destroy them.

Bonus Rule: Padel is serious fun

We’re here to win points and make fun.

So laugh, sweat, smash, say sorry, and do it all again next week. 💛

  • Who Will Be Number 1? The Crazy Race in Women’s Padel!

Get ready, padel fans! The fight for the number 1 spot in women’s padel is wild. One day it’s SANCHEZ/JOSEMARIA at the top, the next day TRIAY wins more points and takes the lead.

Who’s on Top? Ask again tomorrow.

Right now, the top teams are super close in points. They keep winning, losing, and switching places like they’re playing tag. Every match can change the rankings. And let’s be honest—no one really knows who will finish number 1. Not even the players!

So many tournaments, so much can happen.

The season is far from over. There are still many tournaments coming up—more than 15! That’s a lot of chances for the rankings to change. Someone could get injured, someone could get hot and win three tournaments in a row… basically, anything can happen.

Will the top team stay strong? Will a new duo surprise everyone? Or will it all come down to the last match of the year?

    Drama, comebacks, and big smashes

The best part? The matches are amazing. So much emotion. Crazy shots. Wild comebacks. Sometimes you laugh, sometimes you shout at your screen, and sometimes you just sit there saying, “How did she hit that?!”

The tension on court is so high you could toast marshmallows with it.

    Surprising winners

Also the new duo GONZALEZ/FERNANDEZ are killing it. Who expected them to perform on this level that quickly after becoming a new pair this year. They will continue to amaze us.

In Short: we have no idea (and that’s great)

Who will be world number 1 at the end of the season? No clue. Too early to tell. Too many matches left. Too much drama still to come.

But one thing’s for sure: it’s going to be fun, fast, and full of surprises.

So grab your snacks, enjoy the madness.

    Let’s go, ladies!

  • How to Get Ready for Your Padel Training or Match (Without Falling Apart)

So, you’ve got a padel session coming up. A match, a training, maybe even a friendly “I swear it’s not competitive” doubles game. Here’s your very official and not-at-all-serious checklist to get match-ready:

    1.

    Hydrate… but not too much

Yes, water is life. But chugging a full bottle 5 minutes before warm-up = running more to the bathroom than on the court. Sip smart, champ.

    2.

Outfit check: look good, feel unstoppable

Matching outfit? Bonus points. Overgrip color-coordinated? You’re already winning. Forgot your left shoe? Go back inside.

    3.

    Pre-match playlist

Whether it’s reggaeton, Beyoncé, or 90s Eurodance — pump yourself up like you’re walking into the Padel World Championship finals. Even if you’re just playing against your aunt.

    4.

    Stretch (a little)

Touch your toes, roll your shoulders… look like you know what you’re doing. It helps. We promise. No need to do full splits. Unless that’s your thing.

    5.

    Snack… wisely

    Banana = ✅

    Energy bar = ✅

Croissant with cheese 4 minutes before match point = ❌

    6.

    Get your excuses ready

Just in case. “Haven’t played in weeks,” “New racket,” “The sun was in my eyes” — classics that never go out of style.

    7.

    Bring your vibe

You’re not just showing up to hit balls. You’re bringing energy, laughs, and maybe a little trash talk (in the nicest way). Padel is more than a sport — it’s a mood..

  • Welcome to Women United by Padel

How It All Started – And Why We’re Just Getting Warmed Up

    Hey ladies! 👋

I’m so excited (and a little nervous) to write this very first blog post for Women United by Padel — because this little dream of mine is finally going international!

    Let me rewind a bit.

Back in 2023, my twin sister and I started a fun, no-pressure padel community in the Netherlands called PadelWifeys (yes, the name still makes us giggle). What began as “let’s just get a few women together for a match and some wine, coffee, beer or soda after” quickly turned into something way bigger.

We started organizing local mix-ins and small tournaments — non-profit, just for the love of the game — and guess what? Women showed up. Not just for padel, but for each other. Real friendships were born, group chats exploded, and we suddenly had over 250 amazing women in our WhatsApp community. 💬💥

And that’s when it hit us:

Padel isn’t just a sport — it’s a connector. A joy spreader. A reason to get out, move, laugh, and meet badass women you never would’ve met otherwise.

    So… why stop at regional?

    Let’s go global.

Women United by Padel is here to bring that same energy to an international stage. It’s for the women who love to play, love to laugh, and don’t take themselves too seriously (unless it’s 5-5 and you’re serving under pressure 😅).

Here, we’ll share stories, tips, fails, funny padel moments, and connect women from all over the world who have one thing in common: a love for padel, and a love for connecting through it.
Mostly we will share on Instagram (@unitedbypadel), but I’ll definitely will write blogs here too and will try to give you usable Padel information.

So whether you’re crushing it on the court or just figuring out how not to hit your partner with your backhand volley (been there), you’re welcome here. Let’s build something beautiful — together.

    Game on 💜
